What is there about spring that evokes both joy and sadness? Joy comes from the end of winter and new life beginning. The sadness is that this year may be just like the last when love hasn't come along. Younger Than Springtime evokes the first feeling while Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most and Spring Will Be a Little Late This Year speak to the second. But Michel LeGrand's haunting You Must Believe In Spring which closes the tribute reminds us never to lose hope. Cole Porter re-appears in this album with I Love Paris and You're Sensational. Once Upon A Time always makes me think of Tony Bennett. There's A Small Hotel by Rodgers & Hart and featured in "Pal Joey" is here, and Again was included because it was played at Jerry's and my wedding back in 1949. The final selection, Loving You, is and original with lyrics by Fred Smith and music by yours truly.
