FROM THE ARTIST – COCKTAIL PIANO’S - “A TIME FOR LOVE”
This album is full of discoveries. A Time For Love, written by Johnny Mandel & Ned Washington won best song award in the 1966 Academy Awards and was considered by many to be one of the best standards ever written. But until Barbra Striesand recorded it in 2009 it had never become as well known to the public. Cocktail pianists and jazz musicians love it, and we think it makes a perfect addition to our collection. Another find was Haunted Heart composed by Howard Dietz & Arthur Schwartz for a film entitled “The End of the Affair”. It was recorded by Jo Stafford back in 1954 and has since become a favorite with cabaret singers like Jane Monheit. There is a tribute here to Nat King Cole which includes, Unforgettable, Nature Boy, Mona Lisa, and Walkin' My Baby Back Home. Clifford Brown was a highly regarded jazz trumpeter who played with Lionel Hampton, Art Blakey, and Max Roach. Sadly he was killed in a car crash at the age of 25. Following his premature death a fellow band member Benny Golson wrote I Remember Clifford, a beautiful song to pay homage to his friend. In turn the song has become a jazz classic. New discoveries, and if I may say so, my beautifully restored Bösendorfer has never sounded better. So sit back, relax, and enjoy!
